Coaching for social impact leaders + career changers
Some hints to help you figure out whether I'm the right coach for you
Hello. After a few month’s hiatus, I’m back with a brief post on how to figure out whether we’d be a good coaching match. In the last few months I’ve gained a bit more clarity on who I want to work with and who I think I can most support with coaching.
I’ve come up with two main categories which I’ll describe below. To give you a hint of the kind of personality and values I bring to coaching in these contexts, I've included resources that illustrate this in action. I selected a variety of mediums/types of expression to reach mind, body, spirit and meet different modes of learning.
I hope this is helpful in deciding whether coaching with me might be the way to go. These categories are flexible so get in touch if you fall nearby or in between! And if we’re not a match still get in touch to chat all things coaching - always curious to meet learning-people and to offer what I can.
Who it’s for:

On top the text reads on blue background: 'Are you changing career/job/role? Find and use your voice with coaching.'
Career/job/role changer
I’m changing jobs, roles, careers, orgs. I’m looking for:
Time to articulate what I want to be different and identify options going forward,
A place to experiment with new ideas, roles, ways to use my skills, gain new ones,
A system of accountability, encouragement and support.
For me, living into our sense of purpose or vocation is the practice of fully offering ourselves and our skills to the people and communities we work with and for. To give you a sense of my approach, values and personality in coaching, I’m sharing below people who I’ve experienced as having reached, at times or regularly, this sense of purpose:
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Writer (YouTube video interview)
Padraig O’Tuama, Poet and theologian (Website)
Nina Simone in Concert (Live at Montreux '76, BBC website)

Image Description: An image combining three different layers: an image of the ocean from above sits in the background, quite dark and moody. Over this there is a diagonal blue triangle cutting through the middle of the image. Over this it reads: 'Are you a social impact leader? Lead sustainably, focused and present with coaching.'
Social Impact Leader
I’m an impact leader. i.e. sole founder, freelancer, activist, CEO. I’m looking to:
Regularly re-focus on my/our team’s values and how I want to show up as a leader,
Be present to the emotions brought up by the work to spot burn-out preventively,
A system of accountability, encouragement and support.
Working for social justice comes with incredible emotional labor and sustained effort. I’m sharing below examples that capture the kind of focused, present and aligned leadership that I think coaching can support to bring about:
Adrienne Maree Brown, Emergent Leadership and making time for joy (Instagram feed)
Jacinda Ardern, Bringing emotion to leadership (YouTube video)
Herminia Ibarra, Authentic leadership as flexible sense of self, iterative action (TED Talk)
